The Ducks have signed Major League veteran Ian Snell for the 2013 season.

Snell pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2004-2009, and the Seattle Mariners in 2010. Once considered a top prospect in the Pirates organization, he was 14-11 with a 4.74 ERA in his second season in the big leagues. He has a 38-53 record with 4.81 ERA in 803 innings pitched during his Major League career. In 2011, he briefly retired, but came back later that year and pitched for the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate Albuquerque, where he posted a 1-2 record.

Snell was flat out nasty early in his career, and was a solid player on some pathetic Pirates teams. He isn't too far removed from the major leagues, so he can be a huge asset to the Ducks in their run to repeat. Hopefully, Snell can regain his dominance for early in his career.
