The Long Island Ducks announced that they have signed former major league outfielder/first baseman, Ben Broussard.

Ben Broussard has played in 705 major league games with the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. He has a career .263 batting average with 87 home runs and 314 RBI. Broussard was been out of baseball for a few years while he concentrated on his music career.  He returned to baseball earlier this season with Diablos Rojos of the Mexican League, where he hit .304 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI in 19 games. Broussard was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd round (65th overall) of the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft.

Broussard has been out of baseball for a few years, so it will be interesting to see if he can regain the power stroke he once had. If he can it will provide some much needed offense for the Ducks.
