Prior to joining the Ducks, Lyons was originally a 14th round (430th overall) selection by the Washington Nationals in the 2007 MLB Draft out of the University of Minnesota. He played four seasons in the Nationals organization with his best season coming in 2008, when he had a .272 batting average with 7 home runs, and 71 RBI between Hagerstown(A) and Potomac(A+).
Jon Myers will begin his first season with the Ducks after spending two seasons with the Gateway Grizzles of the Frontier League. In two seasons with the Grizzles he hit .270 with 45 home runs and 158 RBI in 190 games.
Myers was originally signed by the Florida(Miami) Marlins organization in 2011 after going undrafted out the University of St. Louis. He played in 29 games for the Marlins GCL team that season hitting .256 with a home run and 11 RBI.
Dan Lyons was an obvious signing. Over the years he has found a baseball home on Long Island and is a solid player. Myer is stills an unknown, having shown some pop in the Frontier League with 45 total home runs in two seasons. Hopefully his power can continue in the Atlantic League.
