The Queensbury, NY native was originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 5th round (138th overall) of the 2001 MLB Draft out of the College of William & Mary.
He played in 529 games over his eight year major league career with the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, Cincinnati Reds, Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
He compiled a .256 batting average with 33 home runs, and 167 RBI during his time in the big leagues.
Last season he played in 44 games for the Angels where he hit .206 with 4 home runs and 9 RBI. He was eventually designated for assignment by the Angels, but elected free agency instead. He finished the 2013 season playing a handful of games at the Triple-A level for the Yankees, Rangers and Dodgers organizations.
