I follow so many teams through out the baseball season that I always miss something special going on. Right now former Tri-City ValleyCat, Tony Kemp is off to incredible start for the Lancaster JetHawks of California League (Advanced-A)

A fifth round pick (137th overall) of the Houston Astros in the 2013 MLB Draft, Kemp is currently hitting .368 with two home runs, 19 RBI, 12 stolen bases and on-base percentage of .462.

Kemp dropped in the 2013 draft mostly due to his size (5'6" and 165lbs), however he is proving his critics wrong.

Last year, I got a change to see him play first hand and I compare him to a smaller Jimmy Rollins. He's a solid lead off hitter who gets on base, makes things happen, but can drive in runs as well as some occasional power.

It's still early in the season but it's great to see a former ValleyCat having so much success. He's definitely someone to watch as the season progresses.
