Albany Dutchmen On The Verge Of Making PGCBL Playoffs, How They Get In

The Albany Dutchmen are on the verge of making their second consecutive trip to the PGCBL playoffs. Last night, the Dutchmen could a huge step toward making this a reality by defeating Glens Falls and moving a game a head in the standings for the final playoff spot.

Both teams are on the road today as the Dutchmen travel to Little Falls to face Mohawk Valley, and Glens Falls travels to Elmira.

Then Monday the Dutchmen return home to play the DiamondDawgs, while the Golden Eagles will be home for a critical doubleheader against Utica who is the worst team in the league.

On Tuesday, the Dutchmen and Golden Eagles play one more time which could ultimately decide the last playoff spot.

Both teams will play division leaders on Wednesday as the Dutchmen will host Amsterdam, and Glens Falls will travel to Newark.

Because of scheduling and rain-outs, Glens Falls will play one less game then the Dutchmen. So in the end it will come down to which team has a higher winning percentage.

This will be an interesting stretch run. In 2013, it came down these two also with the Dutchmen prevailing.

Even though Glens Falls is currently a game behind in the standings they have a distinct advantage playing a home doubleheader against Utica the worst team in the league on Monday. The could make up some serious ground if they sweep the doubleheader, setting up a huge game on Tuesday at Glens Falls.

The Dutchmen need to keep winning and hope Glens Falls loses at least one of their next three games. That way the Dutchmen can eliminate the Golden Eagles on Tuesday, not having it come down the final game of season or tiebreakers.

In my ready for an epic game on Tuesday.
