The Sporting News Ranks Mader As Marlins 9th Best Prospect

Even with a foot of snow on the ground and sub-zero temperatures outside, there is a feeling that baseball season is right around the corner.

Today, I decided to head to Barnes & Nobles to pick up this years copy of the Sporting News Baseball Yearbook. As I flipped through the magazine I came to the Miami Marlins preview and noticed that Michael Mader was ranked the 9th best prospect in the Marlins organization according to their writers.

The Sporting News - Baseball Yearbook 2015

Last season I did a piece about Mader called Michael Mader, Charting A Course To The Major Leagues, describing the 20 year old's first season of professional baseball. So it was pretty cool to see his name mentioned in the Sporting News on a list of " top prospects."

Over the course of the fall and winter I've talked to Michael about the upcoming season and while he hasn't yet to be assigned to a Marlins affiliate their is a sense that he may be heading to Jupiter in the Florida State League.

Regardless of where he ends up it will be another step towards the major leagues.
