Could Three 1st Round Picks Land On The Tri-City ValleyCats Roster This Summer?

Joseph M. Bruno Stadium is one of the best venues in the New York-Penn League but this season there could be extra excitement surrounding the ValleyCats as the Houston Astros currently hold three picks (#2, #5, and #37) in the top thirty-seven of the MLB Draft including two in the top five.

In 2013, the Astros sent first overall pick Mark Appel to Tri-City for a month.

Last season, the 'Cats had two first round picks on their roster: Derek Fisher who was selected in the 2014 Draft (#37 overall) and Joe Musgrove who was selected in the first round of the 2011 (#46 overall) Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. They also had second round pick A.J. Reed (42nd overall) and J.D. Davis a third round pick (75th overall).

The thought of possibly having two top five picks on the ValleyCats roster has fans counting down the days to the first pitch.

This would also benefit the ValleyCats who should see bump in attendance from fans, scouts, and 'graphers looking to see the next big thing. It would also give them the chance to showcase how great their venue and in-game experience is (which I still believe is underrated by fans)

Stay tuned...

The MLB Draft starts Monday, June 6, 2015 at 6pm.
