Former ValleyCat Tony Kemp Gets Called Up By Astros

Former Tri-City ValleyCat Tony Kemp was called up by the Houston Astros today. He will most likely replace the injured Preston Tucker in the outfield and help the Astros struggling offense.

Kemp was always electric for the ValleyCats during the 2013 season but it was unclear what his future role would be with the Astros since he was stuck behind Jose Altuve at second base.  However, the Astros moved him to the outfield adding some defensive versatility to go with solid hitting and speed which ultimately gave him more appeal to be called up.

I featured Kemp in a piece earlier this year called "Fomer Tri-City ValleyCats On The Verge Of The Show." At the time MLB.com had Kemp ranked as the Astros #10 prospect.

Best of luck to Tony as he starts his major league career.
