The PGCBL (Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League) is fast approaching and their has been some changes since last season. The league has added a few new teams and another rebranded which will hopefully strengthen the league.

Utica rebranded their organization going back to their roots in the New York-Penn League with a name change to the Blue Sox. The Jamestown Jammers, a few years removed from the New York-Penn League will enter the league. In addition, the league also added the Oneonta Outlaws and Geneva RedWings, both of whom have roots in the New York-Penn League.

I'm excited that the PGCBL is bringing in former New York-Penn League teams and continuing the community and history of baseball in upstate, western, and central New York. It's always disappointing when teams cease operations and ballparks become abandon. So it's great to see that these teams are joining the league. I look forward to seeing them in action.

The PGCBL season kicks off Wednesday, June 1st.
