Building An (Albany) Empire, Part 3 - Four Arena Veterans Signed

The expansion of the Albany Empire continues with the signing of four league veterans.

Greg Carr, Julius Gregory, Arthur Hobbs, and Doug McNeil have all been signed to help guide the Empire through their inaugural season. 

Greg Carr, a wide receiver from Florida State University, led the team in total touchdowns and yards per catch as a freshman at FSU.  He made second team All-ACC both freshman and sophomore years at FSU, and finished second all-time in receiving touchdowns with 29 at FSU. After graduating, he was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent before joining the CFL in 2010. He spent time with Winnipeg Blue BombersEdmonton EskimosSaskatchewan RoughridersCalgary Stampeders of the CFL and Orlando Predators and Washington Valor on the AFL.

Wide receiver Julius Gregory has seven years of professional football experience.  While attending Shaw University, Gregory set the single season and career records for receiving touchdowns. He played under current Empire offensive coordinator, Chris Thompson with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks before moving to the Tampa Bay Storm. He has worked out with the Denver Broncos, although he didn’t sign with them.

A San Diego native, Arthur Hobbs has been signed as a defensive back to the Empire. He graduated from University of Nebraska-Kearney before being signed to the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He joined the CFL in 2013 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before being assigned to the Orlando Predators in 2014 under Coach Rob Keefe. In 2017, he played for the Tampa Bay Storm. 

Baltimore, Maryland native, Doug McNeil caught 84 passes for over 1400 yards and 11 touchdowns during his college career at Bowie State. After college he joined the Portland Thunder and was named team Player of the Year.  Afterwards, he joined the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks practice squads before continuing on to the CFL.
