Tri-City ValleyCats Win NY-Penn League Championship

The Tri-City ValleyCats won the New York-Penn League Championship after defeating the Hudson Valley Renegades 4-2 in Game 2 on Sunday. 

The ValleyCats were down 2-0 after the first inning but clawed back. Oscar Campos grounded into a double play that scored Carlos Machado in 4th inning to make the score 2-1. Then in the 7th inning Deury Carrasco singled to score Oscar Campos to tie the game at 2-2.

Both bullpens were resilient as the game moved along to the 12th inning. Then Alex Holderbach became the hero of the game when he laced a single to center field, scoring Oscar Campos and Logan Mattix to put the ValleyCats 4-2.

ValleyCats' pitcher Manny Ramirez struck out the first two batters in the bottom of the 12th inning and then Jacob Billingsley came in and got Jacson McGowan to fly out for out the final out of the game.

This is third championship for the ValleyCats organization who previously won it in 2010 and 2013.
